first sight of the farmbed walls

Day 1- In this video, you will see me at the first stage of making the FarmBot from hiring a handyman to the unboxing of all the tools. A year ago when I first saw all the boxes finally at my door, I was so thrilled to start but I knew I had to make a video series, unaware that I’ll be writing those into blogs only a year later.

Day 2- Day two was when everything really started. We were finally able to hire a handyman to build the farm bed of the entire FarmBot. His plan to make the farm bed is to first dig up some soil to plow the pillars that will hold the bed up and then cover the pillars with some wood, which will be connected with strong screws. We had to find a particular place to build the Farmbot since my backyard’s floor was made of cement, we had to find a way to hold the soil in place without it falling apart.

Luckily by the end of the day, we decided to use a layer of rocks underneath the soil so it can sit on the cement layer rather than falling apart. But, this was just the beginning of the real trouble that will happen in the following days.

Day 3- On this day, our handyman was able to drill all the posts down to the cement. Now, all we have to wait is bring in the wood and we can finally start out project!

Day 4- Our handyman finished building the walls and making the entire skeleton of the farmbed. Once that was done, he and I worked on screwing in the tracks of the FarmBot that will help the x-axis of the entire robot glide well. FarmBot gave us tee nuts and small screws to secure the plates to hold down the tracks. The tee nuts was able to fit snugly into the tracks giving a very secure hold.

Day 5- Almost everything was done, now we decide to lay down the layer of rocks to hold up the soil of the FarmBot once entirely built. Because our backyard floor was made of cement, there was no way to farm our future vegetables from the ground, so instead we decided to use a layer of rocks to act as a support for the soil. But that will have to wait until I finish building the x,y, and z-axis of the FarmBot.
